#Speaking Task 2

🔷Some people learn more in the morning. Some others learn more in the afternoon. Which is better for you?  @aalaeeTOEFLiBT

#Speaking Task 3

The reading mainly focuses on a proposal raised by Alex about the closing time of computer repair center. Currently, it closes at 5 pm. Alex suggests it close at 9 pm. The speakers generally support this. The woman uses her own experience to explain why it is necessary for the repair center to close later. Like many others, she needs to study late or have her computer repaired after 5 pm. She also mentions that if the repair center closes later, students majoring in computer will also benefit. That is because they can do part-time job in the repair center to practice their skills and accumulate working experience.

#Speaking Task 4

The reading mentions the rebound effect about fuel using. That is, when the efficiency of using energy increases, and the price of fuel goes down, the usage of fuels in fact increases. The professor gives using cars as an example to illustrate this point. Carmakers manufacture fuel-efficient cars to help reduce the use of fuels since fuel-efficient cars use less fuel to travel longer distances. This, contrary to traditional concepts, actually increases the use of cars because people will use cars more often when driving cars becomes more economical. Then, the use of fuels will not decrease much.

#Speaking Task 5

The woman’s problem is that a girl next door plays violin every afternoon, which annoys her very much because she cannot concentrate on her study. The thing is nobody else seems to be bothered. Now she has two solutions. One is to go to library to study. But the library is a long walk and she doesn’t want to carry her heavy books and computer every day to the library. The second solution is to move to another dorm. But it’s a single room, which means she needs to pay more. Though she can afford, she should carefully control her expenses on other aspects. I suggest the second solution. The first one consumes much of her energy and time, which may influence her study negatively. Besides, she can afford a single room. If she wants to buy clothes or other things, she can take part-time jobs to earn money. Doing part-time jobs also adds to her working experience.

#Speaking Task 6

The professor raises two ways for customers to judge a product’s quality. One is intrinsic cue like what the product is made of and the size of it. The professor explains this by taking wine as an example. If the customer is asked to taste the wine and says the quality is good, he or she applies this way. Another way is called extrinsic cue, based on external factors such as the packaging. The professor illustrates that if the wine is served in a fancy glass with gold rim, the customer now uses extrinsic cue to claim that the wine’s quality is good.

#Speaking Task 1
Nowadays, many people tend to move to a new city to work or study. List some advantages of it.
#Speaking Task 2
Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It is important for children to learn to draw or paint.

#Speaking Task 3
A student writes a letter to suggest the school open a new coffee bar in the lobby, as it is inconvenient for students to go to the coffee bar which is located in the Students’ Center because it is too far away from the teaching buildings. Also, the new coffee bar can provide students with rest and date spots. In the conversation, the woman agrees with the suggestion. Firstly, she thinks usually it takes more than 10 minutes for students to buy coffee or snacks.  If school opens a coffee bar in the lobby, it will be more convenient for students to buy food between classes. Besides, she believes it would also be a good friend gathering place.

#Speaking Task 4
In the lecture, the professor introduces an economic term called “Undercover Market”, which means some businesses promote their products while consumers are unaware of it. To make a clear and vivid explanation, the professor gives an example. A camera company hired about fifty people to go into the streets with the latest cameras. These people asked some strangers to use this camera to take some photos for them. During the process of making photographs, these potential customers could experience the high performance and the convenience of the camera. In this way, customers may be attracted to buy their products, and of course the sales of cameras will increase.

#Speaking Task 5
The woman’s problem is that the due date of her paper is tomorrow while she has no idea to hand it in this afternoon or to revise it in the evening and submit it tomorrow morning as her professor sent her an e-mail, which says that students can delay   submitting their papers until then. The solutions are to hand it in this afternoon, so she can hang out with her friend this evening or to revise it again in order to get a better score. Personally, I prefer the second solution because maybe she can hang out with her friends tomorrow as well. As a student, study is the primary task. So it’s better to try her best to write a good paper and get a higher score.

#Speaking Task 6
In the lecture, the professor talks about two negative effects caused by transplanting some kinds of trees from its original place to other places.  Firstly, some trees grow so tall that they block out the sun light. For example, in the tropical rain forest, a kind of tall trees block the sunlight. Thus, other plants of relatively low height such as bushes and herbs will not be able to carry out photosynthesis, and their growths will be affected. Secondly, some kind of plants grow too fast and reproduce rapidly. For instance, there is a kind of trees which can multiply quickly in a short time. When it is transplanted in a new place, it will soon occupy this new place. However, the growths of the native plants will be seriously affected, since they are unable to get enough nutrients.
